Ok so, right now we are just working with a small herb garden while buying most of our vegetables from Huaraz. In the meantime we`re working towards the feasibility of eventually producing all our vegetables on the grounds or in the close vacinity...but we lack the experience to make it a financially viable option at this point in time plus for right now our supply is pretty damn fresh irregardless.

The following is what we`re working on in our garden..

   HERBS
- basil
- oregano
- mint
- culantro

- parsley
- anis
- camomile
- cedron
- rosemary (2 types)
- sage
- salbia
- colin
- enojo

At the moment we`ve got a small batch of fresh trout that we`re raising.

and a little dog....but hey we`re working towards sustainability so that says it all!

We have tanked up several natural springs and it is this water that comes out of the taps at the lodge. Crystal clear glacial melt. Imagine washing your hair and body in water that is being used right at its source.....and yet heated! A filter on our kitchen tap allows you to fill up your water bottles with pure drinkable delight!

Here at the lodge we have installed our own septic tank so you can even flush toilet paper down the toilet.

Kitchen and shower drain-off is diverted to water our native tree saplings (4,000 of which we've planted on our own land). We`re trying to make the most practical use out of all resources in the most sensible way possible.

For the moment we have a petrol generator, which serves the purpose of giving us electricity this far from civilisation but isn't by any means as environmentally friendly as we would like it to be. Still need to work out a more long term sustainble energy plan...know anything about it?

During the busy months we generally run the generator from 6:30-10:30pm.
