The beauty of this magical mountain retreat is no doubt breathtaking. Just the chance to actually stare into the distance without high rise buildings in the way is a rare priviledge these days. The natural environment, however, has not been cared for nor tended until recently. This means that there is still very little in the way of vegetation.

Small shrubs and desert type plants make up the majority of plant life, with many of the native trees having been felled for wood burning stoves in the last century. For this reason the lodge is proud to lay claim to "the highest croquet lawn in the world".

From the lawn you can observe the ebb and flow of local life as herds of cattle walk back and forth on the mountain road, led by local farmers in their native dress. Well manicured and green, the lawn is a noticeable feature in these dry parts and an accepted challenge to maintain. At the moment we don't have a croquet set but this lawn makes a great spot for yoga, volley ball, sunbathing and kicking a ball around.

Bring a drink from the bar and whether lounging or bouncing around on the lawn, you can soak up the sights and sounds in the sun - enjoying its daily light shows as it moves through the sky.
